Carter's Compassion Foundation - Latest News

Tina Carter, Founder and President of Carter’s Compassion Foundation, established the non-profit charitable organization based on the belief that all children deserve the chance to succeed no matter what their health conditions are or current living standards.  Tina Carter believes that we all have the ability to make a difference in the life of a child and together, we can provide disabled and disadvantaged children a chance to thrive.

Tina is the mother of a special needs child who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Her background includes: physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, catheterization, wound care, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), developmental delay (DD), learning disabilities (LD), and individualized education plan (IEP).

Tina completed Foster PRIDE/Adopt PRIDE training thru the Richmond Department of Social Services, and also completed CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) training. After successfully completing CASA training, she volunteered as a Court Liaison for the Chesterfield CASA for abused & neglected children. She also volunteered as a middle school computer trainer through the Black Data Processing Association.

Tina spent 15 years as an Information Management Consultant for one of the world’s largest healthcare insurance companies. She has 12 years of experience in leadership and as a trainer in the Information Technology profession, as well as six years of Sales and Marketing. She also received her Professional Organizer Certification. Tina studied Nursing at J. S. Reynolds and Paralegal and Information Management at the University of Richmond.

Tina and her husband also have a beautiful healthy daughter who is very supportive of her disabled brother. Despite the challenges of raising a special needs child, Tina and her husband parent with enthusiasm, passion, and lots of love.
